Divi Corporation's President and C.E.O. Mrs. Paula Smith announced the start of a thorough renovation of its Divi Flamingo Beach Resort on Bonaire. The 145 room property consist of 40 timeshare units and 105 hotel rooms and it is located at the water's edge next to the center of Kralendijk.
The first phase of the renovation is already in progress and 80 hotel rooms will be totally remodeled. All rooms will receive new tiled floors and bathrooms, new furniture, new air-conditioning units and a fresh coat of paint. Colors will be abundant and reflect the hotel's desire to move forward in the next millennium. In the public areas, the front desk will receive a new look and lay-out. An "on-terrain" parking area will facilitate visitors to the Resort who will enter by the new entrance. By changing the layout of some buildings, the garden and pool deck will become the main focus. Modern "Divi designed" lounge chairs and market style umbrellas will be the center of the newly created oasis.
The Chibi Chibi, for years considered the prime restaurant on Bonaire is part of the first phase. Divi designed colorful wooden furniture combined with a modern menu, great service and unique character of the structure, will make it the talk of the town. Further future phases will include the renovation of the remaining rooms and the timeshare units as well as the other public areas. Although some elements will be finished earlier, the first phase is planned to be completed around March 1st of 2000. All work will be executed by local contractors and the property will remain open during renovation.
